First weekend away with the navara
So,i had been excited about getting away for ages, i had got a new bar and driving lights put on the navara and from that moment i just wanted to get away and test her out.
The plan was to leave canberra wednesday arvo and head the back tracks to batemens bay arriving saturday morning then different track back but as we all no plans never go right.
We did get away wednesday night and we where so excited, the weather was nice when we left but when we got to captains flat the sky opens and it poured,it was getting dark and we still had 40k's of tracks left before we got to our camp.So i jumped out and aired the tires down in the rain and we got into it,And what a night,it really tested the truck out with the wet tracks and the roo lights payed for themselves. We got to camp and it was still pouring but the track in was exciting,in the pouring rain and dark not knowing what was next, just Awesome. At camp we jumped out and set the roof top tent up and hit the hey,we thought the next day was going to be a huge day of 4wding but plans change.
We got up about 7 and it was still raining but that made it more exciting i think.we got the eggs and bacon out and had a good feed and hit the tracks. Our camp site was right on what our note said a little creek. But with all the rain this little creek was swallow and it was out first test.It was a tricky crossing with a steep drop in which forced the water right over the bonnet then steep out,but we got through alright and off we went.We spent a good 40mins climbing and climbing before we got to the top point of this range and i bet the view would have been great if it wasn't for the fog which had set in and we had a view of about 30m from the top.We then headed down the other side which was step and slippery but we got to the bottom and i was happy as a pig in mud with my new truck,We where cruzing along a pretty well looked after dirt rd when it got interesting.Me and my partner were talking about how much fun we had had so far when pshhhhhh.I pulled over to find the left rear as flat as a tack.We jacked her up and got the tyre off.Tried to use the tyre repair kit but the tare was too big so we chucked the spare on and got the maps out to find the best way to braidwood.
After changing the tyre in the rain and being covered in mud we headed for braidwood.
