Taking a bit of time away from the daily grind can be refreshing - so make time for holidays!

PROBLEM: NO TIME
SOLUTION: PLAN AHEAD!

Yep, there's that old saying, that when you've got the money you don't have the time, and when you've got the time, you don't have the money. Fair enough, work's got to take precedence, and you've got to earn the money somehow, but anyone saying they can't take a week or two off sometime in the year's not trying hard enough. Again, planning ahead is crucial – work weekends for a month or two to get the overtime up, sort it out well ahead with your boss, and even plan the holiday around the quiet times of the year – anything to help you get the time off.

The other question is, when exactly do you go? Well, that largely depends on who's coming. It might not be practical to take your kids out of school for a couple of weeks during term, especially if they're in high school, but if you can get away with it, during term is the time to go anywhere. While the rest of the world is slogging through the 9-5 grind, you and your family will be out there enjoying the best that our countryside has to offer. What more can you ask for! Although, if you are limited to school holiday periods, use it to your advantage and see the parts of Australia that others won't. Sure, there might be a lot of traffic on the highways, but once you get onto the dirt backroads and lock your hubs in, you're out in a world of your own.

It doesn't matter what time of the year it is, there’s always somewhere great to travel to in Australia. As a general rule of thumb, head south in summer and north in winter. Also take into consideration holiday periods, you will find the Christmas and Easter periods to be the most expensive.
