Hot shower needs water pressure - is this the right set-up?

Unread post by BigDutchy » May 24th, 2018, 8:23 am

hello all

I bought a portable gas hot water system. It runs great. Hot water plenty buuuut only from the mains water. Not handy as my next trip will be about 3500Km and my hose is only 75 meters......
So I thought a watertank on the roof will gravity fed my hot water system. It does but the pressure is to low to get it going. I need a minimum of
0.3mpa or 43 psi.
I can buy a 60W 12V 80PSI (0.8mpa) pump on eBay for a few dollars.
My plan is ; Tank ....little length of garden hose to pump...little length of garden hose to hot water system....Is this the right set up?

Thanks a lot

That'd be how I'd do it.

Sucking water through the water heater might work, but could result in trapped air that might not do the heat exchanger a lot of favours.
The pump will be mostly plastic, so filling it with very hot water and asking it to build pressure is asking for parts to distort and potentially fail.

Also check the pump will shift the volume (liters/minute) you need too.
