Hey guys, just thought I'd pick your brains since you've just done this trip & its very much the country I drive.
I used to have an older Landrover Discovery 300tdi manual, now I have a 2015 BT50 auto.
The landy, generally I'd simply put it in low & lock the centre diff lock once Id hit the tracks, then put the rear diff lock followed by the front diff lock as the going got tougher.
I was surprised with the BT what I could do in 4H. Ive used the HDC & thought it was great but, still have concerns about over doing it with the brakes ? I seem to get braked TC in 4H but not 4L ? When the going got harder in 4L, I hit the rear diff lock & away I went.
Basically what Im asking is, what modes/traction aides do you tend to use (or not) in the high country & when do you use them ? Ive been doing a little experimenting & will continue to do so but, I'd like to hear your thoughts.
Cheers Dean.

Hi Dean
I have an old shape BT with an auto. I find that the engine/trans does not provide as much engine braking as my wife's 2004 Pathfinder does. I would usually use 4L when we were on steepish hills, but manually put the auto in first gear. For those that follow me on a trip, they will see that I don't use the brakes a lot, only when the terrain gets really steep and the engine won't hold the car up.
I have a front eLocker and only use that when the wheels start to spin (have to stop to engage it) or my judgement says I will need it. I flick the eLocker off as soon as I am through the tricky section.
Hopefully that helps?

thanks Nick.
Maybe a front locker may be the go a little further down the track (pardon the pun  ).
Appreciate the reply, also hoping to hear from some with the newer models & whizz bang technology.
How they go about it in varying situations ?
Cheers Dean.
