Got or want bigger tyres? Come in here!

Unread post by Nemesis » September 12th, 2014, 4:06 pm

Originally started as a research topic years ago in the utes sections, the tyre topics are so popular it's time to start an new info archive in each sub section, not just for the ute people!

What we want is a collective tried and tested database of info on what works for your model fourby. No hearsay!

So, if you have upgraded your tyre size, let us know what had to be done and whether there is any or no scrubbing. What year/model, how much suspension lift, body lift, wheel off set, guard cutting/massaging, gear changes etc? You get the drift.

Fire away and feel free to post supporting pictures!

have run a variety of g60's with everything from 32's to 35's. lifted sus or factory. rim offset is critical to clearance if your not the type to trim your guards.

for best results with wider tires up to 35x12.5r15's a basic 2 inch sus or body lift is best, slightly longer shackles helps too. this is with neg 25 15x8 rims.

if you cant afford to do the lift, but don't care for your panel work then a trim of 2 inches off the panels will generally clear 35x12.5r15's with minimal issue.

the largest comfortable tire size for a legal road going g60 is a 285x75r16, and the neg 18 GU patrol factory steel rims both look good and will just miss scrubbing on everything excepting perhaps the steering box under full lock at full flex up on that side. they will also add a good amount of track width, giving a much better ride and better side slop stability.
