Ask for/Recommend a 4WD Mech/W-shop - Quick Search

Unread post by Peter Aawen » June 20th, 2005, 6:48 pm

This thread is where you can 'ask for' or 'post up' any recommendations for Fourby Mechanics or Workshops so we can all find them later! All you need to do is put in your request or your recommendation, making sure you tell us WHERE the workshop/mechanic is, any specialisation they may have (Mitsubishi or gearboxes or whatever...) as well as their business name & contact details - then anyone else can use 'search this topic' facility up the top of the thread to find every post on the area or specialisation they are after!

If you are replying to a request for a recommendation, then it will help a lot if you put the location/region of your recommended mechanic/workshop in your reply too, as well as the username of the person you are replying to - please don't Quote their request post, just use Post Reply or Quick Reply & put their username along with the Mech/W-shop location & speciality in your reply text so that it doesn't make the search facility useless. ;)

gphcald has the first request just below!

Bugger, I'll re-write my post.

Not too many in Castle Hill, although there is one chap just off Victoria Avenue who does maintenance, repair, custom stuff. I got his details from Rancho originally, PM me for details.

Slightly further afield you have:
Annangrove 4wd Annangrove Rd
TJM Megastore Kings Park
BBM Kings Park
Mannel Motors Thornleigh
Overkill Engineering Hornsby (I think)
Macquarie 4x4 McGraths Hill

Not too sure if the Rover specialists are still at Amaroo.

Hi, I go to an excellent 4by mechanic on Annangrove Road, Annangrove (just next to Annangrove Primary School) Their prices are a heck of a lot better than Macquarie 4wd and they do a great job - won't do any "surprise" work and will give you top advice (maybe they should pay me to write about them!) Can't remember the name, but I think it is Annangrove 4wd.

4WD mechanic near Ormond

Unread post by cambsy » October 17th, 2005, 1:47 pm

Hi all just purchased a 97 Diesel Pajero (my first 4wd) and we have moved to Ormond in the SE suburbs of Melbourne. I dont know any of the mechanics in the area so i am unsure if i should just use the Mitsubishi dealer here or if anyone knows a good 4wd mechanic for diesel Pajeros that is close.
Would appreciate it if anyone can help.

BRISBANE - TD42 diesel mechanic

Unread post by hoppa » June 9th, 2006, 3:41 pm

Gday all,
i have a GU III with 4.2 turbo, manual wagon and am trying to decide who to take the truck to for some tweaking. I read an article in a back issue about the work Brisbane Turbo and Tuning did on a 3L surf and it seems impressive. I have also heard good reports about Motson's and Safari. Does anyone have experience with diesel mechanics in brisbane who are good at extracting more power/torque from 4x4 engines?

any other shops worth talking to?

Essentailly I am after more response and torque down low for towing and rock crawling.

thanks in advance.

Good mechanic in cairns

Unread post by simsy » August 5th, 2006, 10:30 am

My old man is enjoying a trip to the cape, and after 4 weeks he's on his way back down.

He's just done the creb track and at camp somewhere in the danetree. He has checked around his cruiser and found the Brackets for the trailing arms on the front axle have big cracks in them and have almost come off. Speaking on the phone he said he'd begun welding with 2 batteries.

Anyway this is getting him out of strife but he asked me to post a question on here asking what mechanic would be good to see to get his welding job and it all checked out.
