I still have the original semi-split rims on my Tojo, and wtill have all my limbs, fingers and head. No need to muck about seating beads.

Better than driving on the rim.
I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to say but I agree you don't want to drive on the rim. Seating it with Ether is the best option since most compressors don't have enough power to re-seat tires that big, the guys in the video just didn't do the best job of it, having it fall off the jack and having his leg in the way.
Putting a ratchet strap around the tire before the ether is the best way to hold the tire in the right spot before you ignite!

Some more local wheelin action!

Check out this Ford Explorer that is running Uni-Mog axles! It was quite the beast.

Impressive machine, but that driver certainly doesn't have much in the way of 'mechanical sympathy', does he?!?
An Ex-Service person is someone who thought enough about their country & how great it is, how lucky we are to live here, to write a blank cheque made out to 'The People and Commonwealth of Australia' for the value of 'Up to & including my Life!'

Not on that obstacle! Unfortunately that whole rig was a bit of a test of a theory that never really worked out all that great. While the motor had a decent enough amount of power it had a very low redline and combine that with poor gearing in the transmission and it was constantly bouncing off the revlimiter. It was also as long as a school bus which is what prompted the steering axle in the rear, but that was a pain (as you saw in the video) with all the weight it was hard on parts.

He has since scrapped the Explorer body and is currently building a full tube buggy with the same axles! I'll make sure to post up some videos once we go out and test it!

Here's a vid for today.......we've all been there, broken, frustrated and stuck and sometimes the best option is to just put the pedal down on your Toyota and hope for the best!

Thanks for the comments guy, please feel free to share my vids/channel with your friends, the more views I get the more chance I have to get out and film more wheeling to share! Cheers

A bit of backstory with this rig.

A very good friend of mine passed away in 2007 and he left a pile of parts and a dream of a buggy that he had been working on. Me and the driver decided to finish the buggy for our friend, so we could go out and beat on it like he intended and take our friends dad and brother for a ride to see what its all about.

Life got in the way and the buggy dragged on for years but we're finally running it and working out the bugs.

It is/was a toyota 4runner but now is pretty much a full tube buggy with a 5.3LS, 203/205 transfercase and 1ton running gear. We are still in need of some good tires but for now it does what it was built to do.......hammerdown!

Got a last minute call from a buddy to come out and film his very first run with his new buggy only 4 days before he heads 2000miles to Utah for a wheeling trip! The buggy is a custom tube chassis with a Ford Mustang 302 and Uni-mog steering axles with 43" Interco TSL SX tires. For his first run he didn't have his compressor running so his front diff was unlocked but even it 3wd it did an impressive job of climbing up the steep slippery rocks. A rear locker problem stopped the run but overall it was an awesome first trip out!
