Re: Ask a Moderator
why is such a hassle to load a new profile pic here? I have sized a photo down to 81 pixels and it says it is too big. you need a magnifying glass to see it. cant you set things up so pics are automatically sized to the correct format ?

All new Avatars are turned off atm, some of them were grabbing a massive size from somewhere & displaying over about 3 pages of text.... I couldn't work out what was wrong, Justin couldn't find out why they were doing it, & the IT guys are now looking into it. But, until they can get it sorted, anyone who has an avatar won't be able to change it, & anyone trying to load a new avatar won't be able to.... sorry.

Nope, nothing to do with you.... just another one of the numerous 'un-documented features' we keep finding in the BB software!
Mind you, I'm sorta surprised that it even lets you get into your profile enough for it to give you a 'too big' message - that whole avatar feature thingy is meant to be turned off completely so that you can't even do that; but anyone with an avatar already should be able to keep what they have without doing anything extra.... just don't try to make changes or it 'should' revert your avatar to a blank when you update! But as we all can see, yours hasn't done that?!
Ps, the avatar pics are meant to be 'auto-sized', we managed to convince them that doing that was an essential change about 5 upgrades back?! This latest problem might be related to whatever 'fix' went in to make that work, but any new avatars were randomly grabbing an image size from somewhere, & one out of every three was MASSIVE!! Which is why the 'add/upgrade Avatars' facility is (meant to be??!) turned off now!

Re: Ask a Moderator
Not so much a forum issue as an account issue. I change my email address in my account/edit and it reverts to the old one the next time I look. I also cannot upload an avatar. I get the response that the file is too big and that it needs to be less than 100 pixels x 100 pixels. It is 99 x 73.

Re: Ask a Moderator
Sorry nqgu, but if you look up few posts (& back a couple of pages too) you'll notice that the Avatars have been an issue & turned off for quite a while due to that 'oversize' problem.... it seems when they upload they go full screen & so far, no-one's been able to figure out why. So no-one has an avatar!
The email address thing is more recent. So far I've just got a couple of people who'd like to change their email addresses but can't... in exactly the same manner you describe, so you make number three!! I haven't been able to fix it thru the back of the system for anyone yet, nor have I been able to raise any helpful support assistance, so for now that looks like anotheree you'll hafta bear with, sorry. But please drop me your current email address & the new address that you'd like it changed to via PM & I'll keep trying. I may need both the old & the new addresses because due to the vagaries of the system, sometimes I can't see what's there without going to extraordinary lengths, so please make sure you include BOTH email addresses, & clearly identify which one is the one you want to end up with!
Cheers
Peter

I'll add my name to the email issue. I tried to change mine the other day, after the thread I started on various problems, and it keeps showing my old one. Just out of interest what version of phpBB is being used in this installation? The latest version, since April 17 this year, is 3.1.9 in the 3.1 branch and in the 3.0 branch it is 3.0.14 and that's been around since May 4 last year.

Off the top of my head stormtrooper, the last phpBB update applied to the platform by the software guys was done about 18-24 months ago, ie, well before May last year.....

Reset password?
Hello, I tried to reset my password on my old account but keep on getting a message that I'm not permitted to reset it, I've messaged the forum admin via the contact us link twice and left a message on the Facebook page but no one has replied, I've had to register this account to post this issue on the forum, can anyone help please?

Sent you a PM Philby, it seems none of the emails are getting thru... (subscription notifications aren't working too well either!)
There were a few issues raised some time back about users being unable to change their email addresses, well before the recent upgrade (late last year) but we thought they'd all been resolved.... obviously not all did get fixed!

Hi Peter,
Not sure where the best place to post this info would be. We have been planning a trip on the Madigan line for months and have been trying to contact the Central Land Council for months, no phone calls or emails being answered. We finally received a reply and in the special conditions Geosurvey Hill, and Plenty Lakes are now prohibited entry zones, as well as Camps 2,3 and 4 which we new about. Unfortunately Geosurvey Hill was going to be the pinnacle of the trip.
Cheers
Wayne.

Hi 76 Cruiser, you'd probably get that info out to the broadest reader base by posting a new thread in the Tips & Techniques section, Trip Planning sub-section, here:
viewforum.php?f=14
&/or adding a post to the 'Track Closures - Tell us where you have been locked out of' thread, here:
