QLD tyres sizes and lift with ESC

Unread post by eveyoz » April 26th, 2013, 2:17 am

Hi all,

I have been looking into the new standards as they apply in QLD before I change my tyres. I have a 2012 Ranger with ARB lift, this vehicle has electronic stability control.

I have heard varying answers from tyre dealers, tyre dealers on the stand at a 4wd show and from posts on forums.

What is the QLD rules about modifying 4wds with ESC.

As I understand it you can add a lift if the manufacturer has tested the ESC operation with their product and guarantees it. If you then change that lift ESC combination by also changing tyre size Im guessing that changes things and your lift guarantee becomes invalid.

Is this right?

I messaged ARB about this but got no reply.

You can do bugger all with a vehicle fitted with electronic stability control unless it has been either " approved by the manufacturer" or "tested and proven by somebody else".......that means documents.

They can all say all they like.........see who can produce documents.

cheers

I've seen pics of the ARB testing on the ranger. They don't give you much documentation with the lift.

The tyres on the ranger in the testing pics don't seem stock size. I'm disappointed that they didn't reply to my message. I may try again more publicly.

knowing the community's desires wrt lifts, tyres etc its a shame ford don't help with testing and data. Such support would make them stand out amongst the 4wd manufacturers and would improve sales IMO. :)

Thanks for the reply.

ask on ARB's facebook page, that might get a quicker response.
