Fantastic conversion, job well done by the sound of it.
I have a few questions for anyone who might be able to help.
I have just purchased a 2001 mk triton with the 3.0 v6 and auto and only 140000 K's and front/rear ARB diff locks, i'm very happy with the vehicle overall, but having been a manual gearbox driver all my life i would prefer to convert it, if possible.
If i did change the gearbox to a manual will the diff ratios be out of whack?
Can i do the 3.8v6 magna conversion with the auto? (if the manual is out of the question)
Or perhaps you might have a different suggestion
Also i'm finding the front brakes a bit inadequate, has anyone upgraded them?
Thank you in advance.

G'day

A manual conversion would be possible but would be a fair bit more work, if you'v driven a manual all your life you will soon learn that an auto is better up the bush :)

With the brake's i know the earlier MK's had single piston callipers, mine's an 03 and has twin piston, im not sure on the disc size though, should all swap over pretty easy id say!!

i was just reading through this thread and was wondering whether there would be much of a difference to do this with an mj triton.
and if some one could send me some pic on the mods as im thinking about doing this my self as th mj has 400+thousand ks on it.

Not sure on the MJ, Are the the 12 valve 3ltr? if so you might have some luck with the older DOHC 3.5 from the pajero's? or you could use the same 3ltr from the tr/ts magna, should be a straight forward swap

MJ are 3 ltr 12 valves. Triton MK/Challenger PA models run the 3 ltr 24 valve. Basically both 3 ltrs run the same blocks just pistons and head/ cam differences. You will also find the when the 3.5 was dropped into the Pajero they needed a bodylift of near two inches to fit the larger transmissions in . So if you want a swap a 3.5 into your MJ you need to check the transmission will physically fit.
I don't think the motor would be the major problem!

Now thats interesting. An auto 3ltr MK Triton. Thought they were all manuals until the 3.2 diesel jobbies.

plus the dohc model engine will require complete rewire for the dohc ecu and dash etc, way too hard. just go the 3.5 sohc im loving mine, even running 33's it will spin tyres...
The auto will bolt up fine as my 3.5 was from an auto magna and bolted up to my manual gearbox perfectly. the blocks dont change between auto and manual engines.

Yep, original equipment it is, just in the process of making an aluminium canopy/tray for it too.

Depends on which 3ltr your talking about, if its the 24v sohc then yes there a straight swap. You just need to be careful some heads dont have a place to bolt on the cam angle sensor so you'll need to make a bracket
