TD5 130 for towing?

Unread post by Alan SAShilux » August 23rd, 2011, 6:23 pm

Hi all i am in the market for a new tow car for my comp truck and wanted to no if anyone recommends them for towing fairly large loads i would do an exhuast, chip and intercooler upgrade but wanted to see what others think, they seem to have a really good towing capacity, i have about 35k to spend but thats to get it ready to tow, my only other options are a patrol or a landcruiser and i like being slighty different!

Regards Alan.

When I bought my td5 90 a few years ago, I only really bought it for towing.

All of them have a 3500kg tow capacity. I did 10's of thousands of miles towing all over the UK in mine with no issues.

This is the trailer I used to tow with it, normally with a race car on, but sometimes with machinery, other 4wd's etc etc.

It never gave me any trouble doing that.

35k should get you in a very late td5. One potential downside of the 130 over the 90/110 is that you couldn't get ABS/Traction control

I currently own a TD5 110 and it tows very well, one of the lads at work has a farm in Cooma and runs wood down that way on the weekend - full load in the tray and a couple of tones on a trailer without any dramas - non modded engine on 235/85-r16 AT's.

Only dossier to his 130 is parking the thing as it is a long vehicle with a big turningncircle.
