2000 Disco TD5 Automatic

Unread post by a_d_kustoms » September 19th, 2010, 12:08 pm

Hi guys

My uncle recently got himself a 2000 disco TD5 Automatic and has some warning lights coming up on the dash.

The TC - the SRS - the self levelling suspension - the ABS - the handbrake.

He has been told that the sensors at the hubs need cleaning out - but unsure if this will "cure" the problem... Has anyone come across this and will cleaning the sensors get rid of the warning lights??

It might work - better to try first before going to more expensive alternatives.

Go to www.aulro.com and search "three amigos" (that is what the ABS, HDC and TC lights are called).

All your answers will be there.

Yeah I would do what garrycol suggests. Go to AULRO and have a look there.

The 3 amigos can be caused by a LOT of things.
  • - low brake pads,
    - cheap brake pads,
    - wheel speed sensor, (normally the front-left)
    - shuttle valve errors, (which could be linked to the...)
    - ABS modulator, (the big one, (~$1400))
Have a look on AULRO for someone near you with some diagnostic equipment. They'll be happy to help track down the specific fault.

This is a common prob with the early models, its the cable that connects the senors to the abs, in short you need to get it tested and find out which sensor it is playing up, then replace it. You can buy them dirrect from the UK for half the cost of here, or just do like I have done and get a Hawkeye from UK and save about $200, then you can fix the probs where ever you are mate.
