Diff ratios
I guess at some stage almost everyone thinks about it. Now that my tyres are 90mm (diameter) larger than they once were, I sure am. Low range engine braking, combined with the auto, is only good for about a 20 degree decline and the highway towing is difficult having to maintain 120 kph in top gear for the engine to develop enough torque to cope on the flat ground. There is KAM and Ashcroft. What will be the best economical outcome? I expect 4.1:1 is the most common with the ideal towing speed being 80-90 kph.

Diesel or petrol?
I have the diesel with 265/75R16s and when I went to larger tyres I just got my ECU re-mapped and just stay on 91 speedo = 100 road. (you can get a Truspeed unit to correct this error if you want).
I think 3.54:1 is std, I believe there is a 3.8:1 option. the 4.11s are for if you've gone to 285/75R16s or bigger.

That price is fully installed.
Ashcroft gears-$1200
Getting them set up in the diffs-$600
Remove and replace also a conversion on
the tailshaft to remove the rubber thing-$1000
Sound any better.
I got the bruce davis ecm fitted.
Hardly notice the difference.
I''ll run a couple more tanks and
post some results later.
