Disco drama

Unread post by avrio » October 17th, 2009, 9:58 am

I bought my first ever disco 12 months ago.I aim to get a boat one day and move to the country .
So in the last 12 months I've had a overheating problem on my V8 Disco. I love it to bits but am just about ready to give it up.

I've had a new radiator, new overflow , new thermostat, 3 mechanics and a couple of thoudsand dollars later...boom she goes again, green liquid forcing itself out of the screw cap on the overflow. She's been fine for 3 months in between each "fix" and my mechanic can't believe it.
Gentlemen..please ....any ideas ???

much appreciated

Might get more help at Australian Land Rover Owners than on here.

Sorry I can't help - mine's a diesel.

Could the block be pressurizing itself...good indication of a head gasket or warped head.
Being a V8 it is harder to find which side its coming from, but a decent mechanic would be able to tell you.

If it was me, I would remove both heads, get new copper gaskets.
Heads checked and block decked if its not dead on flush.

check head gasket,my mechanic says their designed for english climate, and when they ship them out here the gaskets can,t expand enough. It will boil once and then behave for a while.Mines being fixed as l write this, took my mechanic a while to find, as it wont always do it. worth a look, hope this helps.
