TJM bars??

Unread post by isitthchad » March 13th, 2010, 6:39 am

What's wrong with TJM bars? How come I haven't seen Wranglers with one. Everyone seems to go for ARB or the rockcrawler/stubby styles. The price is good for the TJM bar. Does anyone have an opinion on this?

I have seen a few JK's with the TJM bar including the one it was developed on. They are not too bad but with the choice out there alot of JK owners seem to be getting the MOPAR, AEV, Rugged Ridge or the ARB ones. Price, warranty and looks etc seem to be a factor as well. Mine came with the MOPAR front and rears fitted so I cant complain.

The only difference I see between the ARB & TJM bar, is that the front goes higher to the bonnet on the ARB one, with the lights going underneath, as opposed to above on the TJM one. It also appears that the US ones don't have much space for lights and/or aerials. $600 is a big difference.

I can tell you that arb bars are alot stronger than tjm. The new arb bar iv got for my hilux weights about 30kgs more than the old tjm one its replacing.

I read somewhere that TJM bars have elongated bolt holes. They can move on impact. The same article also said that drilling another hole will prevent movement.
