Got bigger tyres? Come in here

Unread post by Nemesis » June 4th, 2011, 12:10 pm

Okay guys, we need your collective experience for some research on D21, D22 and D40 Navara's.

What we need to know is whether you have 33" tyres, or managed to squeeze 35" tyres under your Navara, any model.

If so, how much lift required to do the job? Spring lift? Body lift?

Unfortunately, knowing your brothers mates cousins second best mate apparently did x" for x tyres won't cut it. We need facts if possible, what lift fits what tyres, guaranteed.

Your proven advice will go a long way to helping a lot of people!

Cheers
Nem ;)

Here's some Info for the D22 (STR with flares)

Suspension Lift does not create any extra clearance due the it cycling between the bumpstops.

Offset is crucial in fitting larger tyres. STD 16x7's are +35ish If going to 16x8's +20 is recomended but you can get away with +0

31's are Standard - No mods

32's - require removal of front mudflap

33-35's - require 2" bodylift, removal of front mudflap and clearancing/trimming/bashing the lip on the lower firewall (see pic below)

here is a D22 with 35's (2" body + 3" suspension)

Mate, I have an 06 D22 STR with cooper ST's 265/75R16 under it on the standard alloys. Not sure what these are in inchs though. Can tell you that the inside edge of the front mudflaps had to be trimmed, rear was fine though. The suspension is currently standard with no rubbing.

should add in the zd30 for the 35's, standard gearing was bareable onroad, made fuel economy noticibly better on the highway (lower revs for 100km/h) offroad for rock crawling was poor so i fitted reduction gears.

Ive got D40 Navara with 285/75R16's on standard rims. Have got Calmini 5" kit and it clears these easy absolutely no scrubbing.

I fitted Cooper STT's 285x75xR16 as pictured @ 15,000kms

I can hear the knobs touching the inside of the front mud guards at full-lock but never caused any damage, I didn't take mud-flaps off or do any panel beating. On my 2nd set of STT's now @ 70,000kms.
