Re: Gu temp gauge

I also own a 02 GU TD4.2T and can say the temp gauge in the GU's are fairly average i thought i was always overheating but upon further investigation it was the factory temp gauge that was the problem. I installed egt and boost gauges just to keep an eye on things and make sure things are in check.

Re: Gu temp gauge

Do you have a factory intercooled TD42Ti?

If you do then seeing the real temp is as simple as plugging in an ECUTalk cable and putting the display somewhere. The factory intercooled 4.2 ECU can see the actual engine temp not what the uselsss "dont scare the missus" dash gauge displays. The factory dash gauge gets to the centre position at 75C and stays there till approx 109C.

The factory intercooled 4.2s (and 2.8 GUs) have two temp sensors side by side in the head. One for the dash gauge and the true temp one for the ECU. The ECU data port is a nissan OBDII and is located about where your right knee is under the dash.

Re: Gu temp gauge

My temp gauge never goes past the quarter mark. I’ve now fitted an Autron Dual Boost & EGT Gauge with temperature sensor. I have now put the probe just under the top radiator hose on the Thermostat end. The Autron gauge is now also a water temp gauge. On first drive temp sat at about 72 c to 83 c
