Enquiries about lift for 35's

Unread post by XJalltheway » January 14th, 2016, 11:01 pm

So I've done a bit of trawling through the Internet, and have come to the conclusion that to run 35x12.5 tyres on a GQ, a 2" suspension lift, plus a 1-2" body lift is the minimum amount of lift required. I'm planning on buying a Patrol, and just want to get everything planned out in advance, so that once I get it I can just go ahead with the mods. Now, I'm in Victoria, and I'm not sure of the legalities of running 35's on 3-4" total lift. I've heard some people say that it's illegal, whereas some people simply say you can't insure it. So what's the deal there? Obviously I don't want to be breaking the law with mods. A workmates of mine runs 35's on his GU coil cab with 2" suspension lift, and he hasn't had any dramas with it yet as far as I know. Will a 2" suspension lift plus 1-2" of body lift need to be engineered/certified? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just a person who way overthinks things in advance. Cheers

You can go 2 inchs up in suspension, and 1 inch up in tires (which is actually 2 inches in tire diameter up)

So legally (without engineering) you cna get to 33" tires under a 2" lifted vehicle.

If you can get an engineer to sign of on it then its legal, but I suggest you find an enginner befre you buy anything as most dont like hugly lifted vehicles.

Also body lifts are stupid
'98-'06 - FJ-45 Ute fell over one day and didnt survive
'06-now - HJ-47 Troopy, restored and now daily driver.
'13-now - HJ-47 Ute, Farm fresh rust bucket, needs a restoration. viewtopic.php?f=22&t=152811

now - Off Road Box/Camper Trailer. viewtopic.php?f=134&t=153968&p=1792444#p1792444

Dont listen to me, Ive got an opinion on everything!
