Which Winch goes in a genuine Toyota winch bar?

Unread post by Coaxial71 » July 27th, 2017, 1:17 am

Hi all. Which brand winches fit to genuine Toyota winch bullbar (VDJ79) ?
I have been told they're only designed for Warn winches. Any advice appreciated

I know Toyota used to offer the X9 Superwinch as an OE accessory for their wagons, possibly even in a coupla different sizes (I think there was an X6 for the Hilux's & an X10 or X12 for the 75 Series Traytops & Troopies) & an electric or PTO drive choice, not sure if they still do that tho?!?

But when it comes to choosing a winch, most 'commonly available' winch bars & winch brands come with a fairly common/standard bolt pattern that's pretty much identical to that on the Warn Winches anyway, so it's usually more of a matter of making the Hi-mount or Lo-mount choice & then making sure there's room to fit whichever sized motor & cable drum you want... altho when it comes to motors/drive options you also get to specify your choice of PTO or electric over Hydraulic, which also comes as a stand alone/self contained bolt-in addition or a system that can be 'T'eed' into the Pwr Stg fluid lines.... 'Winch Brand' is pretty much the least of your worries! :purplex:
