Unread post by Rick » May 13th, 2011, 12:42 pm

I dont know about you guys but I am in love at the moment with the 76. And let's face it, whats not to love? Big V8, turbo, diesel, solid axles...
Show us your 76 series, and give us a rundown on what you have done to yours!

Cheers!

Mod Edit: In order to make this thread useful to all readers, & to help make it easy for them to find & follow your vehicle build over time, please use this thread to give us a one or two post intro to your vehicle & in that post or in your sig line, add a link to your Member's Ride thread - that thread is where you can (& should) detail all your on-going mods over time. ;) Thanks

I've put a new ARB winch bar with fog lights, scrub bars & side steps, wheel arch flares and a floor console (providing some much needed cup holders). Next project - spotties, suspension, bigger wheels/tyres and a winch. Then planning on getting a Kaymar rear bar with duel wheel carriers & front and rear lockers. And then........well, we all know this story never ends.

Wish i could get the 76, there is something about it that i rely like the look of.
But thanks to its average 3 ton GVM and single 90L fuel tank, its impossible to make a fully kitted Touring mud truck out of it. Guess its the Troopy for my 12 month trip :(

Still love the look of the 76 though :D

Hi pnuske
Have you gone to Arltunga in the East Macdonnell Ranges? Old mining town, good if you enjoy relics & climbing down a mine shaft or two!
Alice has some beautiful sights, never got round to them all in the 6 years I was there :)

Great rig you've built up, how are you finding the seats on long trips?

Hey there Miss,

No I haven't got out to Arltunga yet, it's on the list. Sounds good. We are going to Owen Springs tomorrow. We try to get out to something each weekend in the time we are here. We are working here for about a month so we can be around for the Fink Desert Race.

The seats are not too bad as we are still fairly young I guess, I have sat in more comfortable though. At this stage we could not justify the cost of new seats. We do no more than 300 odd Kays a day when we are on the road.

Thank you thank you and thank you...

I have been stressing over 285s and a 9" rim with a 0 offset.
No one has been able to tell me if it will fit my troopy, but since they fit the 76 im almost sure they will fit the troopy.

Thanks a ton guys :D

This is my 2008 model GXL on the job. Recently added front and rear air lockers and long ranger tank. Still thinking wether to upgrade the suspension or not.
Also fitted dual batteries, turbo timer, uhf radio, bf goodrich km2's, radar detector, bullbar, towbar and black duck seat covers. This was at hamelin pool near shark bay and emu springs down south. The cruiser tows great!

Gregma are those 265/75s?

I am asking some much because I have been in contact with Vicroads and apparently (waiting for written confirmation) they have adopted the NCOP in relation to maximum Overall diameter of tire/rim and I may be able to legally fit 285's.

Cheers,
