can i put a bigger turbo on the 2L-TE surf motor?
will it be bad for my motor running a bigger turbo?

Short answer is No.

You won't get any discernable benefits from changing the CT20.

Do some searching on the Surf forums for a more indepth answer.

Bottom line the CT20 is already to big for the 2.4 that is why ot does not come on boost till about 2000 rpm however a 3" dump pipe with a 2.5" exhaust will help improve it and you could then up the boost to say 10-12 psi

As long as you have a boost gauge and monitor it you will be right within reason.
I never went over 10PSI in my surf but it may have been alright with a little more, hard to say without the old trial and error method, which isnt ideal...!

On the same topic (sorry) is there another turbo that will bolt up nicely to the surf manifold? Like the TD04 or the Garrett T25 ? Just thinking about ideas for using the surf manifold and bits for a 3L
