wife just bought herself a 89 import turbo surf. just wondering what the first mod would be as flat to the boards 105kM i was thinking exhaust but maybe tune up from mtq would be a better start????
12ht, 11 psi boost, 35" cooper 2"body just waiting for 4" rhino kit to come.

tune up and make sure that every thing is in order....

Guessing it would be the 2LT motor.

On the Surf website there's a number of these that have overheated and cracked heads. So first mod I would do would be an aftermarket water temp gauge as the standard one has a few minutes delay in it.

First of all, Oz proof it. Temp gauges and an Aus spec radiator is a good start. As for mods, winding up the boost a bit and a putting an exhaust is also a good place to start. Im using a Turbotec manual boost controler running 11psi (ecu cuts in at 12psi) and the performance improvement is noticable.

your right it is a 2lt non electric. just finised fitting the custome made 2.5" exhaust. it gave it a nice note and now will pull skin off a custard. next step is to have the cooling system checked by the local bloke i have not had 2 seconds to check the surf site but will make time. thanks for the imput. selling diesel engine parts i know what the symptons are and what causes alot of the problems with engines. will get a picture/ movie clip once i work that part out. cheers guys.
