but seeing though ya get 9L with 4.88 gears mite invest

A dual cab lux has a 65 litre tank in it. But you will never fill it up from dead empty, soo say when you fill it up you put 50 litres in and travel 500k's for that 50 litres, you will have an economy of 10ltr's/100ks....just devide the amount of fuel you put in by the amount of k's you do and then times it by 100.
if you get 420 k's for 55 litres it will be
55/420 = 0.13095....
times that by 100 = 13.09 litres/100 km's

Or if you have an iphone, there is an app you can get....handy little tool to have when travelling. Just gotta enter your fuel cost and the odometer reading every time you fill up. Easy way to record fuel usage.

N/A 2.8l 3L LN106 Standard gears on 31's. I average around 11-11.5 l/100k's after taking speedo error into account and it doesn't change much weather I'm lugging a full ton around for work, flat out at 115 on the freeway(downhill) or low range in the bush.

make sure you record the ACTUAL kms with a gps and acurate speed changing tyres aroudn does funny things to your km read out and speed read out therefor making your calulations wrong.

Yappa the app is called Road trip LE lite. The little icon for the app is a petrol bowser with lite written underneath it.

All the figures I have been giving are without taking into consideration the fact that i have bigger tyres and speedo's and odo's are out of calibration soo. Doesn't phase me to much really as I know what I am using with those tyres still...I can still calculate how far I will get off the tank on my cars trip metre using those figures....

Quincy88, i should be able to calculate from full shouldnt i ?? regardless of whether i put in 20 litres or 50 litres as long as the fuels right up to the filler one would say thats full and at 65 litres right ??

so if i got 420kms for 65 litres thats 15.47ltrs per 100kms , is that good ?? guessing the higher the number in litres is the trick

thats with 33s and going off speedo ....gunna fill it tomoz to brim and see how i go for kms

can tell your a traddie Glenn haha. You wouldn't of used all the fuel that was in the tank, the amount of fuel you us is the amount you put back in. So if you drive 160k's and put 20 litres in when you go fill it up. your fuel usage to kilometres is 20litres/160kms. which is 12.5litres/100kms.

say next time you drive 380kms and put in 49 litres of diesel. your fuel usage to kilometres is 49litres/380kms which would be 12.8litres/100kms.

Yes you are filling your tank up to 65 litres every time, but unless you empty your tank every time you are not putting 65 litres of diesel in. Knowing that your tank is 65 litres just allows you to calculate how many k's you could get out of a full tank. say you average 12.5 litres/100k's.
65/12.5 = 5.2 times that by 100 gives you 520. So if you completely emptied your tank you would be good for about 520k's give or take a bit.

Understand?? haha

P.S if you were getting 15-16litres per 100k's out of a hilux i'd be hoping you had a 5L v8 or something under the bonnet.

My lux gets about 500ks from a tank of fuel. I have heard reports of some n/a dual cabs getting 700ks from tank.

Eg my brother inlaw got upto 700 in his 96 2.8. The only thing I could get when I tried to find out why the difference is that there are 2 different fuel pumps used. Both mine and bil had stock pump settings and 31 tires.

I don't know how plausible the 2different fuel pump brands/types is. But I do know there is differences in amount of ks between different luxes.

Yes, thats about right. I had a 92 model with the 3L 2.8. Take your roof rack off and you'll do better still.
