Whats your fuel economy? 2.8 - 3L

Unread post by raven ute » March 12th, 2012, 7:28 pm

So, ive been monitoring my fuel usage for the past 6 weeks driving freeway and peak hour traffic in sydney mornings and afternoon, been seeing averages of about 9.7l/100km, now i run 4.88 diff gears and 33 inch tyres sitting on 97km/h @ 2750rpm on the freeway and well sweet FA speed aroudn sydney in peak hour. i knwo my speedo is 100% acurate from its testing for the engineers certificate. mine is turbo deisel with a denco turbo kit

whats everyone else seeing? make sure you calculate it with the percentage differance in your inacurate speedo if you are runnins larger tyres and also test it against your gps, remeber if your speedo is out then your final KM read out is wrong to

Mine does 11.5 l/100km consistantly. My speedo is also 99.5% accurate cause it has to be when you get your car engineered. Goes up to 12.7 l/100km when towing the camper.
Also i drive at the speed limit or the hiluxs limit which ever comes first..............
my lux is only good for driving through puddles and i dont know anything.........

My speedo is out as I haven't had it corrected, I run 33's with standard diff ratio's and its slowly coming back down after i've had the tyres fitted.
When i first got them done it was up near 14ltrs/100k but now after a bit of driving its coming back down to around 12.5ltrs/100k. I will have to see how far my speedo is out with a GPS and work it out properly.

33's on standard diffs your speedo will read 3% out. So if the speedo says youve done 100km's you've really done 103km, if that helps

when i had the 31's on and did the trip to cape earlier this year, the GPS was giving me a reading of around 97-98kph on the when the speedo was saying 100kph. So it should in theory be about accurate then. I will have to test it on the weekend with the GPS.

Mine hovers around the 12-13 litres per 100 from memory but it carries alot of weight & has alot of drag from the canopy sticking out the side of the cab.

Mine must have 4.88 gears in it too, as it sits at 2750rpm at 100km/h in 5th gear on my 33's.

I will work out my usage after I run a couple of tanks of fuel through it, and post it up.

With skinny tyres (7.50 16) and an alloy tray I average 9l/100km with a range between 8.8l and 9.4l depending on my load and how much is done travelling at 110kph on the freeway. With 31/10.5's and a steel tray the average was around 10l.

My Colorado is standard, GPS shows 8km slower then the speedo.
I get about high 8l/100km on the highway and 10l/100km around town.

standard gears as far as i know .... how do i get my km/per litre as u fellas have put up ??

say i get 420 kms per tank do i just divide that by tanks capacity so 60ltrs (is that right for a 2.8 96 mod ) which equals 7 litres per km  no idea , any help
