What is the BEST and/or WORST things about your 200?

Unread post by HEM19X » July 7th, 2014, 7:04 am

As the subject suggests, I am looking at buying a new 200, I have read a lot of the threads here but there haven't been a lot of comments lately regarding what you like or dislike about the 200.

Some people have said that fuel economy is poor, but what do they expect when towing 3T of van???

Anyway, what else peeves you about them or makes you smile [like overtaking a GU up a hill when towing a van]

Thanks

Hem!!

I've had mine since Jan 2008.

Likes - A few, seats comfortable, KDSS is great, goes anywhere, tows like there is nothing behind.
Dislikes. On my 2nd steering rack and pump. Approach and departure angles are not great, Bull bar and Kaymar rear bar improves it quite a bit though.
Loves - Lots. Power, torque galore, fantastic tourer, more quite than my wife's 2014 BMW Best 4wd I've owned, best car I've owned.

It does drink when loaded - you gotta feed them horses. I think you will get around 21- 22l/100km towing 3T. I get 12 on the open road, 15 - 16 towing 1.3ton and 16 - 17 round town. Every accessory you add seems to add 0.5 - 1l/100km.

Ignore reports on forums from non owners about

-oil use ( there were some early issues but Toyota fixed it for free in all except for about 3 - 4 vehicles). Most seem to use 0.5 to 1l per 10,000km.
-Alternator clogging issues ( only seen by non owners).

Would I buy another one? In a heartbeat. It's brilliant.

Make sure you get KDSS which is standard on all models except GX and some GXL.
