105 series rim offset

Unread post by kiwijase » August 8th, 2014, 11:13 pm

Hi
I'm currently renewing the wheels and tyres on my 105 series. The tyres I'm fitting will be 285/75 x 16 BFG's, with Sunraysia style rims. My question is what is best rim offset to make use of all the space under the guards.I've been told anywhere from -25 to -30.Any suggestions and photos appreciated.
Thanks

-25 to -30 will push your wheels out of the guards.. It will make your car wider and more stable but also put more stress on the wheel bearings and steering components..

A 285/75/16 "should" fit in the guards perfectly well on 0 offset rims. Pretty sure there are plenty of people running 105 *" alloy or steel rims on 285s without issues. If you go for the negative offset and push the tyres out depending how far you go you might start having issues on the outside of the guard at full flex.

I spoke to a guy running 305/70R16 BFG KM2's on 0 offset ROH Blak Trak wheels, 2" lift, no scrub or anything.

I currently run 285's on factory 0 offset steelies, 2" lift, no scrub. I'll upgrade soon to 305's on -13 offset Dynamic steelies, gives a bit wider stance for stability, little to no extra strain on the diffs at that offset, and will sit just inside the guards. Perfect combo in my opinion :D
