I bought a Jeep

Unread post by BigDutchy » May 11th, 2016, 7:11 pm

Yep, I bought a Jeep

I bought a 2002 WJ Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 Auto.

I am not much of a Jeep fan at all. I actually never thought of buying a Jeep
but it just happened....
I was trawling through Gumtree.
Saw an advert that went like "we leave country on Thursday, need to sell our Jeep ASAP".
Asking price neg.
So, Mario from Rome was desperate, I made a silly offer, went to the ATM, got some money, gave it away, and got the car.
I am now the proud(????) owner of a Jeep with full service history, 3 months rego, a push bike carrier, and an "it's a Jeep thing" sticker!!
Not long ago it got new brakes, timing belt, shockies etc.

Photo's will follow

Does anyone know what wheel from other cars will fit my Cherokee?

Cheers

For the right price I'd have a go too. Nearly bought a cheap Pajero for fun a couple of months back, only thing that stopped me was evidence of major engine issues. Nothing like a forced sale hey?

So this means that now your yard will be neglected and your wife will annoyingly repeat your crime to you.
Haven't owned a 2WD since 1982.

It's a 4.7 Laredo.
For a base model it's not bad at all. Has all the bells and whistles I need plus some.
I have to get a few jobs done before I use it. One of the rear shocks is missing the rubber bush. It's now just rattling around. The shocks are new and Rancho will send me a new one. I saw that one CV boot is kaput and will need to be replaced. It looks a fairly recent thing as there is heaps of grease left and very little spun around.
Then I want to fit 265/70/17's on different wheels.
My offset is 50 with 245 tyres. I found a wheel with an offset of 30 bringing the wheel further out compensating for the extra width of the new tyre.
I am looking at a small lift but will hold that off as I think that it has a small lift already. The 245 75's are already bigger than stock and there is still a lot of room to move around the tyre. From photo's I have seen that is not always the case.
As it is not a daily car I can take as much time as I like to play around til I get what I have in mind.
