depends what year model it is, as there were larger brakes fitted in I think 1994 which required 16in rims....

It's a 1997 standard model and the rims are off my 1988 YN67 hilux so they are deep dish rims

I am quiet sure that its the diameter of your brakes requires 16" rims. I also think that the ofset might be wrong

Yep, 16" rims a must for you. I have the same model, same year, and as Cac said, the later models have the larger brakes so came with 16" rims standard (albeit split rims). The offset should be -13 if you use a 16x8" rim, which I am pretty sure is what the GXL standard Toyota rims are.

would any of you guys know if a 15x8 inch rim with 0 offset would fit an early 80?

i have a 92 model that came with 15s and upgraded to the factory 16x8 steel rims for my everyday tyres. but i can get a set of 15x8 hilux rims off a mate for free to use for play tyres.

any ideas guys?

We have a 1992 80 Landcruiser GXL with 15x8 Sunnies 0 offset and 32 x 11.5 muddies. No probs at all as this year model came from factory with 15 inch rims.
Cheers.
