No need 4 a V8. just update with a later model TD
2H 0 - 60, it can eventually happen.

The 12 h TD is listed as 100 hp @ 3,800.

The 4 liter petrol is listed 111 hp @ 4,200.

so why is the T D thought of as being so much more powerful, 11 hp less running at 400 rpm less, does not seem such a big gap.

With the cost to overhaul the diesel does not make much of an argument for the oil burner.

I believe the H1 engine is rated at around 180hp. It has nearly done 2000klm so is bedding in. I filled up yesterday and the vehicle took 120l for 900klm. I have only just put 33' tyres on last week and expect the vehicle to give better economy later. The Marks Adapter transfer modifications are also on the cards with the 10% OD and 44% low range.
Also the V8 was part of my Bucket List.
Additionally I will only buy diesel 4X4's for travelling.

I waited 3 year's until i found the right 60 serie's for me. Paid $4000 and got Bullbar, spotie's, front locker, safari snorkel, dual battery system, overhead console, rear sliding drawers, tables built into the back doors for when you stop and make a cuppa and a few extra's i love it and have never been impressed by the modern 4wd.

12HT 100kw. @ 3500 (134hp) 315Nm @ 1800
2H 72Kw @ 3500 ( 96hp) 229Nm @ 2200

an turbo'd 2h runs a slightly better set of figgures than a 12ht usually, but the 12ht is one of the best diesel engines ever made

it is direct injection, and a heap of goodies internally

Hi Toy Yoda,

The figures I posted came out of the Mag. but I will check them again, perhaps they posted them wrong.

It was in the edition about buying used 60 series.

Thanks

Not sure Yoda they did not specify in the mag where they took them, so would not dispute either set of figures, not a diesel bloke but if I were to own one it would be the 12 ht.

I bought an 87 HJ60, 2H out of this years tax return for $2500 with reg. I've had a 99 petrol duel cab Hilux and a 90 v6 Pajero before this and the 60 is so much better than both (anything would be better than the Pajero i hated that car). The 2H goes good enough for what i want, it pulls great with a bit of weight behind it. If i want to go fast i've got a BA XR8 in the shed with a few go fast bits added and the mrs has a 5ltr VQ Statesman. I drive the Cruiser more than the V8's. Here's a pic of the 60 with the XR before the new tyres and lift

Forget the figures, ive owned both 3f and now 12ht,they don't compare, the 12ht has nearly v8 pulling power. great motor
