Sluggish Wiper Motor - will a strip & clean of motor help?

Unread post by GarryB » March 6th, 2016, 5:53 pm

Hello all. I've just purchased an '88 Turbo diesel 'cruiser and I've noticed the wipers move quite slowly. Can I solve the problem by stripping and cleaning the motor? Suggestions are welcomed.
Regards Garry

Check your alternator and battery. One mine the wipers were an early sign of leccy issues.

On mine not so much the motor but the linkages getting a service/lube and a new bush (the old one was cracked and falling apart ) made them like new.

strip it, clean it, clean all connections, clean all grounds (with sandpaper) and greese the linkages on the wipers (if you can get to them)
