I'm seriously considering buying another 60...am I crazy?

Unread post by dousty » December 22nd, 2014, 3:10 pm

Gday troops. It's been nearly 18mths since I sold the Silver Bullet (85 12HT 5spd) and the Sahara (88 12HT A440F) and I am looking at getting back into one. Since then I have had a Prado Altitude (beautiful CAR) and currently a 12mth old Hilux dual cab (ok car, ok 4wd...but brilliant at nothing) but I still miss the tough 60 series.

Am I crazy? I don't think so because the 60 series offers what I think is the last of the tough Landcruiser wagons and since then it's been all about improving comfort rather than off road capability and robustness. Basically Toyota had the 4wd people mover sorted by 1989 and then began making a comfier car whilst reducing costs.

So, who's got a diamond in the rough I can take off your hands?

Why'd ya sell in the first place?

Hard to beat a 60. Maybe an 80 or 100 series if you like modern comfort.....that said a good 60 is pretty comfy still. Good ones are getting a bit harder to come by though. I aint planning on selling mine any day soon.....

I reckon the niggling issues with older cars will piss you off a bit if you go backwards in models...pretty hard to trade to an older model, especially if its 30 years older.

As a second car. My uncle picked up a second 60 with a dead motor for peanuts and with a bit of DIY the rebuild has been very low budget. If I didn't have to many projects already I'd pick up a 60 as a fishing wagon and keep my 105 anyway.

I got out of them due to circumstances but they have since drastically changed. Yep, they are slow and clunky but they are tougher than nails and suit our purpose perfectly. I am looking forward to it!

Don't think so
Put a 12ht in my 75 ute
go for it
If it is called common sense
then why is it so uncommon

Are you looking for something like a sahara 12ht, auto, no rust (a few dents but nothing major) dual aircon etc ?

I was stockhorse! I just transferred some money for a very neat FJ62 though

Return to “60 Series”
