What Bucket Seats fit a 60 Series? Will 80 series fit?

Unread post by daniel1985 » May 28th, 2012, 1:33 am

Hi Everyone
I have a 1989 FJ62 Landcruiser 60 series.

I currently have the factory bucket and bench seat in the front, but i woult to replace these with 2 Bucket seats. want some that are more comortable.
Would 80 series seats fit?

Has anyone done this.

cheers

I would hazzard a guess they dont but the amount of people with 80 Series wanting to get rid of their standard seats you may do well to make something else fit. I'm sure if you had to 60 series bucket seat rails you can fit whatever you like. SS commodore seats are comfy if you have the width to fit them

A mate has Lexus seats in his 75 and they are comfy as . so I'll probably use those when I do it . but no matter what seats you use they won't bolt straight in they all need adjustments usually you take the runners of your original seats and attatch to the donors which works for the drivers seat but that won't work as easy on the left coz your putting a single bucket (narrow) in the place of a 1.5 seat (wide) so an extra bracket needs making . Do a search someone in this section showed pics of there install a while back
cheers

I put Autotechnica seats in mine. Best thing I have done seat wise. I mounted them to the original factory sliders with only having to drill two holes in each slider to fit them. They bolted straight up and took all of about one hour to fit both. You will need a factory passenger bucket seat slider though as mine had toyo factory buckets both sides. I managed to gain a bit of leg room up front when in the fully back position. These seats fully recline as well and have a wider bolster than other sport seats.

Thanks mate. It is real comfy inside, the seats are awesome and they hug you when wheeling. You feel very secure in them over the rough stuff.
Autotechinca from Autobarn. I could not believe how little mucking around was needed to fit these. With the original sliders they are the perfect height and like I said if it took an hour to put both in I was being cautious. I could do both seat inside of that time now that I have done them. The console is out of a jeep  I got the idea from one of our other members here who got it from the states as did I. The company to google is called Quadratec. They do any and all things jeep. But some thing will be able to be mod éd up to fit our cruisers. Most of us on here are pretty cluey and it was not hard to work out. I fitted it for the most part to the original centre console mounts and used one extra mount (supplied) for the rear of the console. For the record it will hold a sixpack real easy!!

G'day Daniel

Unless you replace your existing seats from another 60 nothing will be a straight bolt in. My Lexus IS 200 seats came close but I still had to make up some brakets using 10mm steel plate and angle iron. There's some photos and a bit of a rundown in the link below.

Also if you put "60 series seats" , "60 seat modifications" or similar in the search function at the top of the page you should find some good ideas, quite a few people have done it ;)

Mate those VU seats look awesome!! Are the electric motors for the adjustments hooked up?

Cheers

Decent seats are one of the best mods you can do to a 60 and it can be a cheap one too if you shop right.
All those look good,i like the lexus ones, sum blokes in the states have had good results with volvo seats and honda too.
I got stratos in mine, picked up a honda prelude drivers seat a while ago and threw it in the other halfs troopy, what a difference, she loves it.

I remember reading somewhere that Chrysler PT Cruiser seats will pretty much bolt straight in.

Dear as poison though

Neat60
unfortunatly in the vu the electric function was tilt only and would have made the seat sit up to high
