FJ40 Thread.

Unread post by KUSTOM V840 » January 5th, 2007, 5:50 pm

Thought we could start a thread on Fj40 Series (all models of that shape). Questions, Answers, Modifications, Upgrades etc lets post em all here.

Here is mine to start.

Home built rear bar, 305 chev, power steering conversion going in now. Disk brake on the rear conversion next. Then body off restoration.

Speaking of handbrakes my never worked, it just didnt seem to pull tight. I think that was a common problem with these 40s

Toyota still didn't fix the handbrake when they went to 70 seires, but the 40's do look good with big tiers and a nice V8.

Well you should be married to mine!! Pulls tight as!! bwaaaaaaaa!

Seriously, mine has't worked ever. I adjusted the shoes in the drum and the cable but still useless. In my rebuild I am thinking of removing the handbrake set up and fitting a motor bike disc brake in its place.... But I am putting disk's on the rear so I might be able to hook up a cable there too.

mine worked like a dream! I had to adjust it up at the brake end and the lever but it was fine

sparas, fit a hydrolic handbrake. they nice them is lol.( in my best redneck voice)

i love the 40 shortys. i wanna build one up so bad at the moment, basicaly to look like the one v8 40 showed. jsut not sprung over.

some people taught me how you can get 35s to fit at stock hight, fit a nice puring 48, or my 12ht, with a few mods, and the 40 would be a rocket...as well as a fully capable truck,

oh how i want one(should have bought one insted of the 60)
