Auto's suitable for a 2H HJ47?

Unread post by Not for highway use » February 10th, 2015, 7:29 pm

Hi All,
I've just been given a auto Triton for work as my manual one was getting on a bit. To be honest I like it. Alot. Just wondering if there are any auto box's that fit behind a 2H or is there another combo that works well?

You could make the 60 series auto box work i'm pretty sure, Lot's of them were fitted to 12ht powered 60's which essentially has the same block as a 2h. I'd assume it would rob more power from an already slow 2h but i have never driven an auto one.

Yeah the auto from an auto 12HT will work,

But some things to consider,
new transmission cover plate,
transmission cooler
transmission mount plate thingi (my brain isnt working)
wiring harness

just to name a few.

Plenty of auto 2Hs in HJ60s about too. Just look online for a wrecking one. Should bolt up fine. Diff ratios probably different though. Autos had much longer legs I think.

You will probably have to modify the detent mechanism as the IP and more importantly the throttle mechanisms on the manual and Auto 2H were different, but should work ok, but the detent cables need to be mounted somewhere if using the manual pump.
