make a couple of phone calls to the royal australian army, prob the transport dept and ask when the next unimog is due to be decomissioned. im prettty sure they get auctioned of when there decomisioned. ive seen a few over here including landrover's for sale. or the other option would be to get one privatly imported wich shouldn't be to hard cuz alot of the european countries use them for garbo trucks and other similar duties. good luck finding one mate there ****ing good 4bies and i have been lucky enough to go for a drive in one in the bush and there definatly worth the money and the wait. those patrol drivers dont know wot there missing ;)

How about a Mitsubishi Canter instead? The mag reviewed one a few issues back and I was pretty impressed, maybe not as capable off-road, but IMHO a better proposition for an all-round tourer. Also a lot more available.

Unimogs are awesome looking. If you manage to source one, let us know. I have a feeling I know someone who would be interested in getting one too!

And how much would one of them cost?

There is also one on Ebay at the moment, its a bit rough but its only $10495.
No one bid on it last time it was up either.
Would be a good start anyway.

I know this is an old thread but I'm getting keen on importing a 404. Does Tractivforce still import them? That French one on ebay looks pretty rough = headaches, Gonzo's old Swiss one that sold on ebay last week was perfect.
