Pajero iO - worth getting solenoid valve replaced?

Unread post by BuyerToBe » May 7th, 2013, 9:50 pm

Hi guys,

My Pajero iO has been flashing the front wheel lights in the 4WD indicator on the dash. I took it in to Mitsubishi for them to test it as I didn't know whether it indicated a problem or not, and they've said that the 2WD and 4WD operation are both working as they should but that it requires a new 4WD solenoid switch, which is $313 plus labour.

My question is whether this is worthwhile getting fixed or not? I can easily live with the flashing lights on the dash and the 4WD appears to be working just fine in the sand etc, but it seemed to start using a little more fuel since they started flashing and I'm wondering if that indicates that it's not disengaging the 4WD properly or something? I have little to no mechanical knowledge so would appreciate any advice! Unfortunately I wasn't able to get the info I'm after out of the service guys at Mitsubishi.

Thanks for the help :)
