Can I just re-glue the placcy tab on a Jeep car key?

Unread post by macka » September 2nd, 2013, 10:48 am

Hi

One of the little black parts of the jeep remote key has fallen out. I still have it, however it seems that a little plastic lug has broken off.

My question, can I just re-glue this to the unit and if I do, will it affect how it works, and what I should I use?

Alternatively, does anyone know where I can get a replacement unit to which I could switch over the innards of our key?

spoke with Jeep people and was told there would be a minimum cost of $250 to replace the whole thing.

Thanks in advance

Hi

For those of you who might have had the same problem, here is the solution we have come up with"

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/200659551520 ... 1439.l2649

Much cheaper than any solution offered by Jeep

hi macca, was browsing and came across your question .i had the same problem with the kj key but the cost nearer to 500 to replace the key .solved the problem by going to locksmith and purchased a new key that communicates with immobilizer and is waterproof about 100.00 .both my keys suffered the same fate and the jeep keys are not waterproof and have different body shapes
