AFTERMARKET VS GENUINE JEEP ACCESSORIES

Unread post by firthy01 » January 10th, 2012, 8:13 pm

Hi Guys, I'm buying a Jeep Wangler 2 door manual petrol 2012 plate and want to get the best advice from other owners,
the price was 28k drive away for wrangler (plus accessories) , I really like the genuine Jeep accessories and I spoke to the chick at the dealership whom is the accessories (etc) speacialist and I don't want to buy stuff that I dont't need or isn't any good is genuine or non genuine better ?

this is what I want if I am going to use it for serious 4wd

winch bar, winch - cable or rope ? tow bar, side steps or rock rails with additional tubular rub rails, snorkel, lift kit - 2 inch ?emergency and rescue pack, GME TX3540 with high gain antenna, Hella comet 500 driving lights, rear off road bumper with tow eyes, skid plates, performance exhaust, swinging rear tyre carrier.

What else should I be or not be looking at as this is my first Jeep and I have always been a toyota man and I still have my toyota but I want something more modern and fun, I guess you could say I am upgrading and I really need all you Jeep lovers out there who own them and have done for awhile to give me your honest advice, I trust the feedback through the forum and have always had nothing but help from fellow four wheel drivers.

There is no way I would be paying what jeep wants for there stuff, depending on what state you are in, try Bill at Doubleblackoffroad.com (Melbourne), Wooders Garage in Sydney.

There is so much stuff avaliable from the states!!

^^ X2
I have a JK 4 Door and for an example the MOPAR 2" Lift Kit is around $1400 for 4 Springs and 4 Shocks.

Look at what DBOR have for $1600 http://www.doubleblackoffroad.com/Produ ... r-Kit.aspx

Bill only does Jeeps and he is really oriented on what the customer wants their Jeep to do and not what he would like to sell. Give him a call or drop in if your in Melbourne.

FWIW I have held off doing any mods until now (08 plate 09 buy) JK Unlimited but have been shopping for a while and I will be getting my gear from DBOR.

The other thing is Jeep will not warranty anything that they believe has failed due to aftermarket equipment being fitted, so understand where the mods will put you as far as service goes.

Cheers
