What tyre width/offset for Landcruiser 76 wagon.

Unread post by spearfish » February 24th, 2009, 11:01 am

Ive just bought a new landcruiser 76 series wagon workmate.
I'm going to remove the standard split rims and chuck on some fat tyres.
I won't be putting a body/suspension lift just now, however will fit some flares to it (65mm outside the current guard).

Just wondering what is the best/biggest tyre size with maximum width and offset I can use to help stabilise the stance a little more and give it better handling properties. Don't really want it to scrub either.

I was thinking of some 265 or 285 sized tyres..

cheers

Pretty sure 285's will fit....those guards are pretty big.

you will need either two different offset wheels front to rear or wheel spacers for the rear as of the trac difference, a mate of mine fitted sunraysias to a clients car and had to run wheel spacers on the rear think they were about 36mm will check with him and let you know.

big difference in trackwidth front to rear, amazing how they get away with it

I just ended up fitting standard cruiser offsets and 265 75 16s... they don't hang out at all.

Hi I have been trying to decide the tyre size also. Do you mean 0 offset or +30 when you say standard cruiser offsets? You mentioned that they don't hang out. Do they not hang out because you have flares or they won't hang out even without flares?

265s used to be the largest you could go in Qld on a cruiser but now with the 50mm rule you can go 285s. You might have to flare the guards but.
