Today, cleaned it up a bit and started sorting a few little things like the lack of reverse lights and interior lighting. also fitted some legal"ish" tyres

It has a brand new 4l six in it, that'll do for now. I'll either drop in the LS3 or go a V8 Diesel later on
Sorting out the mess of wiring on the rear.

Found a Nastie while removing the rear cabin heater. Seat anchor is almost completely broken away

Spare tyre mount is gunna have to either go or be re-done, the way it's been welded I don't trust it to hold the spare on for long

Fixed some of the welds on the rear where the chassis had been shortened, especially seeing as it's where my recovery points have to attach to!!

Not saying they didn't have enough strength, just that I wasn't happy with them. that and I'm a firm believer in Fish plates wherever the chassis is welded to or modified:great:

Ground and "V" d them all out and re-did them.

Back to wiring!! :drink:

So far I've modded and painted the stinger and hung some spotties, fixed the busted seat mounts, sealed the floor with sound proofing and started on some super heavy duty recovery points to suit my "oh *****" 15,000 lb rear winch.

Tomorrow I'll finish the front end off with some castor plates, and fab up an adjustable panhard, hopefully it'll handle really nice. I'll post some pics tomorrow.

For the next month or so I'll be working with a minimal budget and what I have lying around as I'm due to open my shop in June. might make some front arms and a new front diff housing as the front pinion angle is out to buggery,
Already have most of the gear, just gunna cost my time....which I have precious little of before Cliffhanger

after that.....who knows :p

On Friday I finished the rear recovery points and most of the urgent "To Do List"
Come Saturday I gave it a shakedown on the Wheeny Creek track, did %95 of it with no dramas got a bit out of shape on the top ledge at the last climb.
Image

Joys of open Diffs

Self recovered then headed to the lookout. had some dramas on the way back and ended up dragging a 1 wheel drive Patrol most of the way out. :D:D
Image

As we had a group of about 8-9 cars head out in front of us they chopped up the track a bit, winch copped a workout pulling the patrol up a few climbs :thumb:

My only breakage was a blown left front brake line which was no real drama as it would have blown sooner or later anyway. it's got all new ones in it now ;)

Wil post up some pics tomorrow

Ok, well started to make the rear belly plate/Winch mount/battery trays today.

Cut out the old spare tyre mount, didn't take much either
Image

Started with a sheet of 6mm plate
& having a Mag drill makes life easy :p
Image

It's got cut-outs around the back edge for drainage/cleaning(that's what the holes were for)
Image

Plate's Tack welded in to see how everything is gunna fit
Image
Image

Nice flat belly :D
Image

You'll notice that there's a piece of 1/2" plate welded down the back side of the rear crossmember. that's for the tow bar to mount to. :thumb:

Also for anyone interested, it's a beefed up 15000lb warn. braced, 6hp will run 16mm Synthetic Rope, should be good for 25,000 + pounds

Haven't got a great deal done, Spent most of Tuesday and yesterday laid up in bed with some kind of Flu, dead set felt like I got hit by a big truck :(
Pretty much right today though :thumb:

Anyway, main belly plate is fully welded top and bottom, also have the bottom half of the winch mount done. still nutting out the top half, winch was never designed to be top loaded, nor have a 6hp motor on it :p

Also going to change the way the batteries will go in to save a bit of hight and how the tow bar will mount.
The way it was I would have had to remove the winch to get the tow hitch on and off.

Got a bit of contract welding to do tomorrow but hopefully should get mostly finished tomorrow night ready to start barwork on Sat. (Cheers to Joshy for lending me one of his Dies :thumb: )

Helping Turtle again on Sunday so going to be rip ***** and bust to have the ole girl ready for next weekend.

Oh, any ideas on a name for the truck guys ?
