Re: Cranky.... Intercos for Xmas!!

Unread post by crankycruiser » July 22nd, 2012, 8:21 pm

Thought i best update, not much been going on in Crankys world of late due to the wagon getting all of my attention, and the very bad news that there is no longer any PULP fuel sold in weipa, so i have to mix additive every time i fill up! :irked: damn u BP for selling out to Shell!! (well up here anyways!) :irked:

So pretty well cranky has gone into hibernation for a bit, only a few things left to do to get the wagon up to scratch and i will be happy ish..

The wagon has had a fair bit of loving since i got it.

list goes
Flip Arm
Safari Front mount intercooler
G Turbo running 24psi
16x10 procomp rims
35x12.5 Interco M16's
HID and leds in just about everything
60lt engel and slide
Sahara light conversion

things left to do
Spare wheel carrier (i have all the bits for but no time)

how SID sits atm

G turbos are built by graham bentink, they are a custom turbo. He builds them to his spec. Blow the pants off a off the shelf Garrett

i read over on offroad80s that you and a fair few people run these turbos,

how do you think the engines will last running that much boost over standard over a period of time? would love one on my 1hd but dunno how it would last running 20psi or so

They recon that the factory Tds are good for 30psi. I can't see it being a problem as long as u keep your egts in check. Mine runs a lot cooler with this turbo due to it being more efficient.

My motor has just been rebuilt and balanced, so I'm thinking I should get a lot more years out of it.

So Crankys been a bit neglected of late, since we drowned my mates car, and had cranky underwater for a good 5 mins, I haven't bothered to do the wheel bearings.

So today I gave him a birthday (incidentally it is 3 years since his chop). Finally fitted up my new headers to get rid of the leaking junk, added some braces where the old ones cracked, so hopefully prevents the new ones from doing the same.

Also did all the bearings, and put balancing beads in the 37s.

So finally gave Cranky the TLC that he has deserved and took him on a overnighter with a few of the crew.

Left late friday night to make a bit of an adventure out of it, we went north from weipa and then right onto "stones road" (this is the long way) and headed into IWS, this is around a 2 hr drive on a rough track in from the weipa road north.

Stayed at IWS for the night, consumed "a couple" of beers, bundys and a bottle of American Honey  . The next arvo we headed out and headed to Billys lagoon and asl what is known as Billys, but on the river itself. Did the full round trip and came out 70k south of weipa on the PDR.

Just a good little shake down trip for Cranky before the onslaught of the wet! Still love that V8!
