hmm maybe i should be looking for something different but unsure yet anybody know how well the 1hz goes?
FuzzyM wrote:Also you are not allowed to drive a car with any engine performance modifications at all, regardless of it being petrol diesel etc.
That also means engine conversions are out. Sorry :(

You can still do your coil conversion at least :)
so does that mean my ehaust and extractors would be illegal? dam i hate p-plate laws i wonder if i could apply for an exemtion(spelling) to be able to? also for now i've decided agaist a coil conversion due to time and money although if it does ever happen it would be coilovers haha but doubt it would happen for a year or so yet. :D

Hey mate, just read this whole post today whilst at work. Tell you what good work mate, starting young and getting it done well! She's a beaut looking rig. I too started relatively young but no where near as early as yourself. I bought a 1993 TD Hilux Surf at age 16 and done a few mods to her. I learnt so mch from this first car and has given me great knowledge and experience for now at age 19 on my second 4wd as I recently sold her and upgraded to a 105series Cruiser.

Cheers!

I understand an exhaust from extractors back is legal as its not bolted directly to the engine, but extractors arent allowed, however it is unlikely that anyone will notice, unless your exhaust sounds like a big truck causing some police attention.
However i certainly aint no vicroads agent.

oh yep things like that should be aloud as it is no real power gain at all plus on 4wds like mine it's not like there race cars being flogged around but i guess it's the way it has to be so no point argueing, because you can't have seperate laws for every car otherwises it would be to confusing, the good thing is she ain't loud at all it's 86db the legal limit is 88db at 1600rpm i think it is which is quite quiet so it should never be pulled up for it.

Just read the article today Waitesy,

Gotta say.. Well Done!
Its a credit to ya man. most lads your age seem to be interested in pouring buckets of cash into go nowhere but maccas heaps of crap.
You've thought it out and methodically restored and modified a pretty iconic old 4wd that will likely cart you around to just about any corner of this country you choose to visit. It's evident by your thread here you have done it all properly and it shows. Its a quality vehicle now mate. Good on Ya!
I'll be pretty stoked if my 45 Troopy turns out half as good
