Believe me you have no idea how much its killing me looking at all of your awesome trips away. While im stuck at home, going on nearly 7 weeks!
Fair to say i have quite a few
Once the little devils are gone im hoping to finish off a few things on the old Toyota. Ive fitted new front shock's and will do the rears when i have a spare 20minutes.
Still havent fitted my long range tank altho ive made some progress including adding a new power tool to the garage that ive been wanting for some years now.
(Needed a drill press to drill the mounting holes in the 50x50x6mm SHS that im using to mount the tank under the tray)
Which meant i needed to make up a bench to mount the drill press on, which meant i needed to sharpen my welding skills lol (100% self taught) btw youtube SUX for arc welding tips and instructions hahaha.
Borrowed my fathers old arc welder which is OLD OLD OLD (older then me!?) along with the leads, earth clamp and stick thingie... oh and lets not forget the face mask! The old face mask is so old and crappy you can hardly see through it, it has no lift up window etc... so you have to hold the stick steady, pull the mask down then hope the stick is still in the right spot lol im sure you know what i mean!
It took me ages to figure out how to stop getting that little crater at the end of my welds!!! Just needed a little figure 8 kind of motion before stopping the ark... Yeh it took me just about the whole bench worth of welding to figure that out haha.
So.... once the little devils are gone im hoping to install the tank then get a new and larger exhaust made up to go around the tank.
And the misses is keen on a fridge so that means i may shortly get permission to add dual batteries
Oh and here is my work of art (not!) but still not bad for my first welding project. Took me two days on my own to tack it together square, weld it up then prime and finish painting it. I was going to have a shelf under it (still might one day) but the welder wouldnt fit under there so i left the front open.
50x50x4mm SHS with a 6mm top.
My little corner of the garage is slowly growing!
Would love to get out with ya'll soon, let me know when your heading out in the near future and i might be able to swing it. There is a light at the end of this tunnel!!!!!!!!
