Can your vehicle be identified?

Unread post by BLU-125 » December 18th, 2006, 7:06 pm

On AusJeep, a forumite has reported a fellow member to the Qld Transport Dept., after reading about mods done to an XJ Cherokee in a "build up" thread.

I know that none of us would do this to a fellow member, but maybe we should all consider who else can read our posts.....

this has happend a lot, sadly its not just members. people like RTA employee's no good people who look for law breakers and the like. on outers its simple if you post up your rig blank the rego. if you forget you normally get a PM to do so. i posted up a pic not to long ago of my rig and there was a street sign in the background. i didnt even notice it. the street is the only one by that name in vic so my rig could be found easily. its now blanked out.

to me its more security i cant afford to have my rig stolen and striped insurance wouldnt even cover 1/2 of the cost of the gear in/on it.

yeah i have heard of this on xr6turbo.com, even ford at one point were voiding waranties of guys who took there cars to the 1/4 mile and didnt think to remove the number plates (aparently the had someone in the stands taking number plates) also at car shows with plates removed and sticky tape over the rego label ford employees (read absolute low lifes) peeled back the stiky tape and recorded details off the rego lable and voided waranties for mods done to cars.

my advice is black out any numbers or anything that could identify you from phots. txt is another thing as the internet is just somewhere where people make up stuff all the time :).

you never know who is paid to surf the net and try and catch people out

the go is.

a bloke (read spineless jelous POS we will call bloke A) called the rta or what ever its called in qld and dobed in a fellow forumite (bloke B) who was modding his car. Bloke A claimed it was because the mods were dangerous and not engineered and he wanted to save the blokes family.

Bloke B was modding his car the propper way no corners cut top end shiat. he was moving from QLD to NSW in less than 1 month so didnt get it engineerd in QLD because there was no point and it was top notch work anyway.

end up it cost Bloke B over 3k before chrissy money he didnt have and bloke a disaprerd back to the gutter like the scum he is.

other point is a while back people were using build up threads as shopping lists for gear and then traceing where the people lived. happend on a whole lot of car forums not just 4x4.

Yeah the thread was only there maybe one or two days, the poor bloke descrided everthing he did to his jeep, it went for 20 odd pages, i lost interest after the first couple because i have a life which oviously BLOKE A doesn't which is pretty sad, but maybe its something we all have to be aware of,
