Thanks for the advice Stock but that sounds a bit over the top for this freshen up ;)

I may just end up painting the sides and rear of the roof and blend it into the rest - roof rack is going on anyway so I should be able to hide it ok.

On another note I took a deposit for ol' faithful today. After taking what I wanted for red she is now a shadow of her former self

I took my extended shackles out and put the standard ones back in. Check out the front shackle angle

Made a bit of progress over the last week.

Spray putty on the lower half of the rear 1/4 then primer and guide coat before the last rub down

One side of decals are all off. Looks as though it will be one eraser wheel for each side :boggle:

Went to start on the RHF guard already knowing there's a bodgy repair that I need to take care off but found a whole lot more once I pulled the snorkel off  There's a good case as to why drilled holes in guards for snorkels should have all the bare metal painted over.

Time for a new guard :whyme:

It great to see the effort you're putting in. Keep it up and she'll be a sweet rig.

Now for some colour :D

Still needs a cut as how it sits there is straight from the gun. I've decided to paint the roof too. I've scuffed it up with 220 in readiness for some hi-fill primer. Lower tailgate is also getting some love.

I tell you what though, this bodywork caper isn't my idea of fun. All the prep work that goes into it is so time consuming :whyme: Starting to see the results though which is good

Good prep always pays of. It's a pisser of a job. I lack the patience to prep things well. So, I do a little bit of work and have to walk away. Do a bit more and walk away. Otherwise I just make a mess of things.

But your car looks awesome and you are doing a great job. Cheers

Cheers BD. I'm with you, I don't have the patience either hence why I also have to keep walking away from it.

Got a question for anyone regarding drip check sealer in the roof gutters. Some of it looks pretty ***** and now that I'm painting the roof I may as well dig all the old stuff out and redo it. Sikaflex 227 seems to pretty popular with a google search but the question is what to use and how does it stand up to roof rack legs?

As mentioned earlier I knocked out all the old drip chek sealer. Very easy job with a screwdriver as wide as the drip rail and tapped it along with a hammer. So glad I did this as it was all so brittle with whole lot was out in 20 mins. I put a coat of rust convertor on the join then sealed it up with Sikaflex 227 whilst running across it with a wet finger.

I didn't take a photo of it but when I hit the 1/4 with colour the thinners reacted with either the factory paint or something behind it so I've rubbed it back to the factory primer with 400 and I did the same with the roof to avoid the same problem.
