My 80 series Maybe dual cab?

Unread post by patlux » July 29th, 2013, 6:51 pm

Hey all, this is my 80 series, its a little rough around the edges but its a 4by so meh :)

80 series
1hz with a garret t3/t4 turbro
HPD top mount intercooler
3 in straight thru exhaust
dodgy home made snorkel
5in lift through suspension stuff
35in simex centipedes for fun
32in general grabber ATs for daily use
rear ARB air locker, have a front as well however not installed yet.
Diff and trans/transfer case breather set up
and some other stuff,

As it sits it is pretty capable and am happy with the offroad performance, so will mainly be maintenance and touring stuff to follow I think...

And some pics.

When I first picked it up on a sagged 3in with bald as ***** 33's and pretty stock other than that

So a fair bit has been happening, biggest is moving to Darwin. Loving the change and cant wait to actually get out and start exploring properly, mad keen :)

Truck wise:

I got chopping the other day, a whole heap of unused plugs, chopped em out and taped it back and made it all nice and pretty.

A 4in inlet welded on my airbox ready for a nice big stainless snorkel in the next week or two.

A 40l engel, keeps the beers nice and cold. Gotta sort out a draw system shortly.

I will be starting on a tube bar soon with a swing away, should be good to go, some draws to organize the rear, and that's all I can think of now.

Oh and I bought and mounted an awning yesterday, goes alright.

Nice mate. What camera are you using? Looks like it could do with some cleaning/replacing!

Re: My 80 series :) - rear bar this week

Unread post by patlux » September 22nd, 2013, 8:13 pm

So im starting construction of my rear bar this week, should be relatively easy.

Basically gonna get some 5mm plate, bolt it too my chassis, weld one 40mm tube and maybe something a little smaller (30-25mm) and bend it around the rear quarter. Nice and simple.

Will also be doing a swingout too, just a basic tyre carrier/worklight deal, should be fun.

Bit of an update, rear bar has began.

Started of with some 5mm plate, bolted it to the chassis like this:
Image
All high tensile bolts of course.

Then cut bent and welded some tube onto it:

To end up like this:

Still undecided if I should add another bar underneath or not, also still have to brace underneath near the wheel arch but for now its pretty solid. And also have to build the swing away at some stage.

Some pics after a bit of a clean:

And a few cheeky flex shots as well:

Drops the rear wheel just level with the sill.

Same with the fronts:

And at a local ramp day back in vic:

Cheers.

Re: My 80 series :) New exhuast, rear bar and stuff

Unread post by patlux » October 27th, 2013, 8:14 pm

Its been a while, and not too much has happened.

I redid my exhaust, went from the old rubbish that was on there to a new 3in system, tucked up, running inbetween the chassis rails, sounds fair bit better now, and will
The paint on my sills was all chipped up and scratched, so I painted them in anti-chip black, looks pretty cool.
Put a turbo sticker on, haha, and so far that's all.

I'll get some pics of it all this week, which I will also hopefully get some more work done on my rear bar, and I will be constructing a 4in snorkel in the coming weeks.

And some pics after going exploring today.
