Re: Psyolents RN105 V8 Conversion
mostly back together today. ran/bled cooling system. bearing in mind, the thing has an 82 degree thermostat. it pretty much well got to 80 on my speco gauge, and, sat there. i left it for 40 mins, with the old thermo fans, it would have got to 90 or more. 40 mins later, still on 80 degrees.
i am hopeful that i have had some success here. i note that the front of the radiator is cold from the air being sucked thru, and the airflow across the engine /in the engine bay from the derale fan is fucking amazing.

re-made the radiator brackets today, and we're all back together and rocking. will take it out for a drive tomorrow for a test.

31 degrees outside today. good for a test. did a fair bit of running around in the beast this morning, got up to 90 and stayed there. not in traffic - not on open road - nothing. also note with the 32" tyres on there the speedo is dead accurate. i need a wheel alignment very badly though.

also got the hilux aligned yesterday, drives a fair whack better now. still wanders a little, but, have found with the front hubs locked, it drives A LOT better (just not with 4WD engaged on the tarmac)

Re: Psyolents RN105 V8 Conversion
.....so found out what my wandering problem was while replacing my springs over the weekend. the drag link connection to the j arm has about 5mm slop in it before the hub even BEGINS to move.
so yeah, replacing the springs was a top idea. one because the old ones were shot, two because i found that bloody steering wander.
only thing is now the springs are swapped with the 2" lift, the drag link fouls on the rearmost u bolt. so i ordered a dropped drag link so it will run on the right axis, but am also going to change the rearmost u bolt for a flat topped one (over the top of the leaf pack) to give me that extra bit of clearance to make peoples happy.

How'd you go?
Dropped draglink in yet?
It's good when you find a gremlin when replacing something

holy ***** you're alive!
yeah, new draglink in - so far for the brief drive i've taken it for - was 100% improved
i have to put in 2" lifted shocks and longer brake lines now as they are too short ....
