Unread post by HiLuxury » October 31st, 2012, 10:06 pm

Hey everyone i purchased this 1980 toyota hilux last week for $1000 for a build before i get my lience,
has 300,000k's on the chassis, the good thing was it just had a new 3Inch EFS lift kit , has a 1.8ltr Petrol and a 4 speed manuel gearbox with a cracked bellhousing, 31inch tyres with no tread .
If anyone has some ideas for the car let us know :thumb:

Hi Mate I have the '85 model myself and thats with the 2.0L engine mine gutless so yours will be a sloth to drive. an engine conversion would be great but if your as poor as me the standard engine will have to do.

31"s and a 3 inch lift will be big enough to do allmost anything (same as me). I have done the tele track (dry) and some pretty crazy tracks.

Yours looks like its in pretty good knick? what's the interior like?

Yeah thats always fun it just took me 4 weeks to get all the rust out of mine.

As for interior there is a guy on ebay that makes up plastic floors for the single cabs pretty cheap, its a good way to get the floor nice without spending $ or having to worry about getting it messy.

Striped it all back this week, it has some rust in the usual places down in the wheel arch and some in the engine bay but has been cut out and welded up, hopefully all ready for paint tomorrow.

Went and chopped up the tray and only using the old off cuts to make the new tray, im thinking about making a box thats flush in the tray to hold 2fuel cans, recovery gear and a air compressor.

yeah cool. mine apparently has 4.3's standard, and pretty sure might still be running 4.3's. But if was going bigger tyres, i would definitely be changing ratios.

tray looks good mate.
