OK before i get onto the Surf SAS will finish up with Tim's LN106 1UZ conversion

I cut off the 3bolt header flanges as they didnt allow to fit between the chassis rails so i rep[laced them with 2bolt 2-1/4 ford flanges as they are smaller flange then holden ones lol... here's the old flanges just sitting there on a tilt to fit in there

Image

The new Flanges.... much better

Image

OK so flanges in place & new 02 sensors the motor can be fired up when ready
now onto that radiator relocation 65mm push
First i had to measure & mark before chopping then the chop

Image

Rodeo clutch fan as the fans are both the same fans being a reverse fan blade & viscous clutch hubs are a little different so i did swap out for an LS400 clutch fan hub

Image

So with the rodeo clutch fan in place making sure theres room for shroud etc & fitting in place the new front cross brace support bar ready for welding

Image

So i fit some radiator supports & all welded up with a lick of paint to freshen it up

Image

Radiator in place & looks like lots of room for clutch fan

Image

& just with rodeo clutch fan theres ample room

Image

I refit the top rad support brace in a new location but retained the factory bonnet latch & cradle :D

Image

New belt & LS400 idler fan pulley

So with that sorted & plumbed up just need to make up a shroud later, more of the hard stuff for now cause want it running :)

Image

Clearance with rodeo hub

Image

OK so she needs to breath so a new inline airfilter canniser was ordered

Image

Had to make an AFM flange pipe fitting to join AFM to pod filter

Image

Lucky paint dried before the rain

Image

Intake air all plumbed up

Image

Image

New LS400 clutch fan hub in too... much better

I already made one but it found a new home so made a new handbrake relocation bracket that brings the cable pulley inside the can to make room for the motor against firewall.. I also made 2 block off flanges one for the old handbrake pulley hole that acts as a backing plate & the other is for the old clutch master cylinder that is no longer required

Image

Handbrake relocated

Image

Block off plates in position

Image

All back together... well almost

Image

Image

Next is fuel tank... i need to modify the fuel tank mounts to accept a 4runner EFi tank with fuel pump so thats next job but it's pissing down outside so im up do date with this build.. well no as i left out lots of minor stuff like 4hours to fit new header gaskets with motor in place & caster plates, dropped draglink, steering box relocation & torque rod bracket repair & modification but thats just pics i lost when i lost my camera :irked:

Here's a canopy i made for a D22 Navara that will be covered with canvas by now i'd say... just to fill this post

& the family Toy "Fiftilux"
Will be building this with GQ diffs & Custom F4x4F diff pinion handbrake
& the Surfs old 308 Driveline after i fit the LS1 combo in the Surf :sillywink:

Image

Image

low runner

Image

The GQ diffs already have superior hilux leaf pads so will be going 05+ IFS Rears with 150mm hanger push & dropped shackle hanger relocation with 250mm chassis bob, will stay the same wheel base due to 05 rears being spaced backer at the pin. Then for the front will be a RUF with 60mm diff push & dropped custom hanger with custom dropped shackle bush hangers too.... hehehe :thumb:

Image

Toyota badge lol

So it begins...
The Surf is on stands & diffs are out awaiting 80series diffs to be grafted in

Image

Bye Bye IFS

Image

driver side chopped

Image

passenger side chopped... what a pain in the bottom

Image

rubbish pile

Image

All cleaned up

Image

made a ruff template

Image

cut fishplates

Image

fishplate on i also boxed the chassis up in line for the rear leg on the 80series towers

Chopped the towers off the 80 chassis

Image

Image

All cleaned up ready to go in there new home

Image

all welded on heres that back leg where i boxed the chassis to suit the rear leg of the shock tower

Image

bucket towers are on

Image

Image

Mock fitting the steering box in new location so i can mark a template card

Image

I cut a steering box relocation fishplate using a cardboard template

Image

now to relocate the steering box, just positioning it as far forward as possible, you can see the old hole

Image

& made some caster correction plates

I cut some radius arm link plates

Image

So i drilled for crush tubes after positioning the steering box & fastening bolts to secure it for welding, you can see i cut the upper bolt tube bracket off the chassis & re used it

Image

ready to weld off

Image

done

Image

Image

Image

tower all welded too

Image

Image

painted

OK enuff pic by pic

heres where im at

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Yeah i braced the diff

Image

the blue one is the 80 pitman the other bellow is a trailgear shorter stroke same height as hilux IFS arm just shorter & i needed an extra 10m for room to fit panhard bracket

Image

just enough room for pitman bracket & bolt clearance with standard 80series panhard bar

Image

So i made a panhard bracket after lots of measuring to get panhard in same angle parallel to the draglink was the biggy here as i dont want bump steer & the bracket was an ass pain to make too being off square to the chassis rail

Image

Image

& good clearance for draglink & diff pumpkin bash plate

Yep good clearance good everything

Image

Image

So thats where im up to i have been reworking the other end of the 80seies panhard brace bare bracket to suit the Surf chassis contour... should be done today if i get my ass off here  Im using a GQ patrol panhard bar for the cross brace as it has a very thick wall compared to the 80series cross brace & the nissan panhard has a nice bend on the end that helps it mate into the 80 brace bracket in position...
will update.. it's way too hectic to post more pics of every detail which i do have pics of just not happening on here sorry :gurn:

80series diffs front & back with 285/75/r16 tires on 8inch +0- offset wheels leaves tires protrusion at 36mm max

Image

rear diff in position now to cut surf links off & move them across to suit

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Thats it for now... off i go out to finish this panhard p[racket & cross brace if the weather allows... Yep i did al of this & more all in the open outdoors lol! :)
