haha yeah slowly coming together. made sure today I actually worked on it properly.

prepped and primed the interior with Epotec Primer today. didn't take too long, was using a brush and roller as well. I've earnt a beer or 2 that's for sure.

I'm going on holidays until the 3rd of Jan so I won't be doing too much between here and then. But next up is a bit more panel beating, then some bog to fill the rough parts, then prime the outside. Then on to roll cage, rear seats, tailgate etc.

Short update. Have booked Toyotasaurus in to get the roll bars and rear seat mounts built and mod plated for road use. going to cost ~$1800 to get it all done and signed off. That is all happening in 3 weeks time when i get back from work.

Also trying to prepare and bog the outside of the truck so I can paint it too, but it's too hot/humid here in Queensland at the moment, and the bog goes off too quickly. Will have to try it at night time when it's marginally cooler.

Also picked up a rust free Windscreen surround, minus all the wiper motor etc. The other 2 I have are rusted out.

He'll be starting to take a bit more shape in 3 weeks time :D

Awesome Mod plated & roadworthy soon :D
We dont get Mod plates here in Canberra unless you do a body swap or something in those lines of Modification, only heavy vehicles & machinery get plates here, i got two huge piles of paperwork 1 pile for me to keep in the Rig & 1 pile is kept by RTA ;)
Your getting there :thumb:

yeah can't wait mate. I only need it for the bars and the seats, because the hard top was removable anyways and they came out as softops.

Here's a mock up of the rear seats

That's gonna be tip-top when it's done ;)
Have you thought about propping the back seat a bit so the passengers don't have there knee's on there chest, might get a little uncomfy on longer trip's, just a thought ;)
Otherwise looking good :thumb:

yeah Duck, it will be roughly the height of the wheel arches. don't want to go too much higher. it may end up leaning backwards a little bit too, which will make it more comfortable. plenty of legroom. tall people can just sit in the front seat :D

Been waiting for this moment for a while now. Have finally sent him off to the engineers to get the roll bars and seats mounted, and also signed off and blue plated. should be done in around 3 or 4 days :D

He's back from the Boily/Engineer and looks awesome! Pretty happy with what they've done with it, everything works out well. It's pretty much exactly what I wanted :D It all unbolts for removal, including the rear seats, so I can get the liner in there and spray it up etc.

BMV Engineering built it. check them out on FB.

Duck, haha cheers mate. kinda getting closer, but it's slow going being back at work, and only getting every 2nd weekend off

safari truck, ah man yeah it's never an easy decision. I'm going to be selling my shorty soon too, just needs to go to someone who can appreciate more than I can at the moment. This rain is getting rediculous, before this we couldn't buy a drop of rain!

monkeybucket, yeah, i'm hanging to see it finished soon too. haha it was those belts or just lap belts. but I figured down the track I'd get pulled over by the cops and they'd try and pin me for it, so I just went the lap & sash to cover my ass later on

Long time, no update. Finally got some time off work, so I'm back into it again. First up: Tailgate

took me a little over half the day to knock this up. 25 box steel with that gal coating (i think) and some 5-6mm plate i grabbed for work for where i want the hinges to bolt to. still have to weld a sheet of steel for the outside face, but this will do the trick nicely.

the L + R edges are gapped to roughly 1.2 mm (cutting disc width), witht he bottom edge gapped to 3.4 (grinding disc). using the discs made it that much easier.

my brother also picked up a pretty well f#$%ed factory softop troop with a tailgate, but the hinges and side catches/latches still work fine! so i'm going to use them on this :D

soon this will be done, get my doors cut and shut, then final prep then to paint etc.
